P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada.

Members of P.E.O. believe that education is fundamental to world peace and understanding.
ELIGIBILITY
An applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study, working toward a graduate degree in a college or university in the United States or Canada.
A student holding citizenship or permanent residency of the United States or Canada is ineligible.
Scholarships are not given for research, internships, practical training, or travel.
In order to qualify for her first scholarship, an applicant must have a full year of coursework remaining and be
enrolled on campus for the entire school year.
Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working on dissertations only are not eligible as first-time applicants.
AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP
The maximum amount awarded to a student is $10,000. Lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual needs.
SCHOLARSHIP
P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship awards are not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses. At the time of application, the applicant is required to confirm additional financial resources adequate to meet her estimated expenses.

APPLICATION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Eligibility must be established before application material is sent to applicants. The eligibility material may be requested at any time or downloaded from our website: peointernational.org. The completed eligibility material will be accepted only between August 15 and December 15.
The deadline for returning application and all related material, except applicant’s confirmation of admission from university and income verification, is January 31.
A copy of the applicant’s confirmation of admission, specifying the graduate degree program, and income verification must be received by the International Peace Scholarship Fund, P.E.O.
Executive Office by April 1.

Mensa Foundation Scholarships 2009

The Mensa Education & Research Foundation International Scholarship Program is intended to provide scholarships for foreign students enrolled at colleges or universities in the United States. The program follows, in broad terms, the outline of the scholarship program already in place in the United States. The scholarship process begins during the first week of September and ends with the scholarship application deadline of Jan. 15.
The U.S. scholarship program is very large in the geographic area it covers (usually about 75 percent of the country), the number of applications (4,000 to 6,000 in recent years), and the amount of money available for awards (nearly $70,000 last year). The Foundation’s U.S. scholarship program is operated by approximately 400 volunteers around the country with support by the Foundation Director and American Mensa’s office staff. Applicants need not be Mensa members.
Eligibility is limited to Mensa members (except American Mensa) or their children age 25 or younger. An application form with more information can be downloaded below.

PhD Studentship Award at Leeds University Business School

UK - Leeds University Business School is offering a number of studentship awards for international students to fund PhD study for a 2009 start.

What is a School Studentship?
The School Studentship provides PhD funding to successful applicants to cover fees and a maintenance grant.
What is the value of the award?
For successful candidates the award will cover tuition fees at the international rate, and a maintenance grant of £13,290 per annum.
Who can apply?
These awards are open to international students that wish to commence full-time study in October 2009. You will need to meet the standard entry requirement to the PhD Programme in the Faculty of Business. Applicants must hold at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree or equivalent. How to apply

Entry Requirements for PhD Programmes

Candidates should hold a British Masters degree, or equivalent qualification, with a minimum average score of 60 per cent. Candidates must also meet our standard English language requirement.
Standard English Language Requirements
A pass in an approved test in English is required for applicants whose first language is not English. The approved tests and minimum required scores are:
  • IELTS. Scores of at least 6 or more in each section and an overall score of 6.5
  • TOEFL. scores of at least 580 overall and 4.0 in the Test of Written English
  • Computer based TOEFL. Scores of at least 240 overall and 4.0 in the essay-writing
  • TOEFL iBT. We require an overall test result of 94 with the following minimum scores required in each of these sections: Listening 20, Reading 23, Speaking 23, Writing 24.

[Netherlands] PhD Positions in Microbial Biology at University of Groningen

Ph.D. position in microbial ecology Microbial Ecology Research Group

The research group Microbial Ecology is part of the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Studies (CEES) in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Groningen. The group studies the adaptive strategies of prokaryotic microorganisms that allow these to survive in complex natural habitats. One of the topics focuses on the role of microbial diversity in ecosystem functioning. The research is strongly multidisciplinary and includes microbiology, ecology, molecular biology and plant physiology and ecology. The group provides a lively and internationally oriented scientific environment with excellent facilities.

Project
A major goal in general ecology is to understand the role of biodiversity in ecosystem functioning. Ecological theory predicts that ecosystems with a higher diversity of species are more productive and more stable in the face of stresses and environmental fluctuations. Amongst the different components of biodiversity, the diversity of functional traits of species in a community is considered to be the best predictor of the related ecosystem process. In this context, we recently used experimental communities of bacterial species to evaluate the role of bacterial functional diversity on community processes. Diversity had indeed a positive effect on community function and we were able to demonstrate the relevance of the complementarity of species for resource use capacity in shaping biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationships.


he main goal of this PhD project is to use a similar model system to address the role of bacterial diversity in respect of the stability of the communities. You will be responsible for designing experiments with bacterial communities to test theories related to the diversity-stability relationship. You will apply classical microbiological methods to determine community functioning. You will develop and apply molecular methods for the quantification of bacterial species, as well as statistical models to untangle the effects of diversity components on community stability. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Microbial Ecology center (UMR5557, Université Lyon1) in Lyon, France.

Requirements
You have a Masters degree or equivalent degree in microbiology/ microbial ecology, with a strong background in general ecology or in ecology with interest in working with microbial model systems. Experience with the application of molecular methods in the study of the complex communities is an advantage. The project is demanding and asks for dedication as well as a creative mind. Good proficiency of the English language is required. The Ph.D. candidate is expected to attend a few courses and to assist in teaching students at different levels (10% of time).

[UK] PhD Studentship - Design and Mission Analysis of Femtosatellites - University of Glasgow

PhD Studentship "Design and Mission Analysis of Femtosatellites"
Space Advanced Research Team, Department of Aerospace Engineering

The Space Advanced Research Team at the University of Glasgow is currently seeking a PhD student to investigate the "Design and Mission Analysis of Femtosatellites"

The project consists of the design and development of femto-satellites with a volume of 1 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm and a weight of approximately 10 grams. These very tiny satellites are expected to be mainly made of stacked silicon microchips. Some microchips will be responsible for very specific tasks necessary for the survival of the mission (for example, communication, attitude control, etc.), whereas other microchips will form the scientific payload (for example, embedded microcameras, radiation detectors, etc.) These femto-satellites have the potential to drastically lower the costs of space missions and increase the frequency of the launches. Furthermore, the possibility of having a huge number of femto-satellites (more than 1,000) at a reasonable manufacturing price (less than £200 each) will increase the overall mission reliability (losing some of them will not jeopardize the overall mission objectives). It will also allow the conception of new mission scenarios and the assembly of large structures in space consisting of thousands of small elements (for example, interferometric antenna arrays, synthetic aperture radars, etc.) The doctoral student selected for this project will have to take into account not only the design trade-offs of present microelectronic technology, but also the mission design and analysis trade-offs applicable to space applications. In this process, it is expected that the doctoral student will be able to produce some advances in the state-of-the-art of this interdisciplinary field of research since the present design rules of small satellites cannot be directly applied to the design and development of femto-satellites due to the severe constraints in size and power consumption.


The PhD candidate for this post will hold an upper 1st class degree in either aerospace engineering or electrical & electronics engineering. The successful applicant will have good analytical and modelling skills, and good knowledge of microprocessors and/or space mission analysis and design. Enthusiasm and determination in exploring original ideas as well as good team spirit are desirable qualities of the successful candidate. A very good spoken and written English is essential.

Each Scholarship will run for 4 years, cover all tuition fees (EU or overseas) and provide the successful student with a stipend at the Research Council recommended rates (£12,940 for 2008/09). On top of this the project benefits from £5,300 per year research costs.

The project will start between January 2009 and April 2009.

PT.ULTRAJAYA, Tbk, bekerjasama dengan Politeknik TEDC Bandung dan Berufsakademle Badenwurttemberg - Germany membuka kesempatan bagi lulusan SMA/SMK/Sederajat untuk mengikuti Program Beasiswa Diploma IV dengan Program Studi :

  • Teknik Otomasi Industri
  • Mekanik Industri Desain (Konsentrasi Mekatronik)

Persyaratan :
- Lulusan SMA IPA
- Lulusan SMK yang programnya relevan
- Lulusan tahun 2001 sampai dengan 2008
- Nilai EBTANAS/UAN rata-rata > 7.00
Selama Pendidikan , biaya pendidikan dan tunjangan hidup akan diberikan oleh PT.Ultrajaya.

Jepang Tawarkan Beasiswa bagi Siswa Lulusan SMA

Kedutaan Besar Jepang untuk Indonesia menawarkan beasiswa pemerintah Jepang “Monbukagakusho” kepada siswa-siswi Indonesia lulusan sekolah lanjutan tingkat atas (SLTA) Indonesia untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya di Jepang.

Siaran Pers Kedutaan Besar Jepang di Jakarta, Jumat, menyebutkan beasiswa yang ditawarkan itu adalah program ke Universitas (S-1), College of Technology (D-3) atau Professional Training College (D-2) mulai April 2009.

Syarat-syarat pelamar beasiswa adalah siswa/siswi yang lahir antara tanggal 2 April 1987 hingga 1 April 1992 dengan nilai rata-rata ijazah dan rapor kelas 3 semester/catur wulan terakhir minimal 8,4 untuk program S-1, 8,0 untuk program D-3 dan 8,0 untuk program D-2.

Pelamar hanya bisa mendaftar satu program dari S-1, D-3 atau D-2. Syarat lainnya adalah pelamar harus lulus dari SLTA dan jika pada saat penutupan 25 Juni 2008 nilai ijazah asli belum dikeluarkan maka nilai ijazah sementara dari kepala sekolah bisa diterima.

Formulir pendaftaran disebutkan dapat diperoleh secara gratis di Kedutaan Besar Jepang di Jakarta, Konsulat Jenderal Jepang di Surabaya, Medan dan Makassar mulai 30 Mei.

Mereka yang tinggal di luar Jabodetabek, Surabaya, Medan dan Makassar dapat melamar melalui surat yang ditujukan kepada Kedutaan Besar Jepang, Konjen di Surabaya, Medan dan Makassar.

Surat itu harus dibubuhi tanggal lahir, alamat, nomor telepon, program pilihan, tiga bidang studi yang ingin dipelajari, dan dilampiri fotokopi rapor, ijazah serta nilai ijazah. Formulir harus dikembalikan ke Kedutaan Besar Jepang atau Konjen Jepang sampai 25 Juni 2008.

Hasil Pengumuman BEasiswa Depag 2009/2010

Alhamdulillah, akhirnya Pengumuman Hasil Penerima Beasiswa DEPAG telah keluar, setelah ditunggu-tunggu,, akhirnya keluar juga pada tanggal 7 Mei 2009,, bagi temen-temen yang belum melihatnya silahkan di download dari situs resmi nya http://www.pondokpesantren.net,

Tapi Saya sendiri tidak termasuk dalam daftar penerima beasiswa tersebut,,, ya mau gmana lagi,, mungkin belum waktunya,,, dan mungkin usaha saya kurang maksimal,,, Tapi saya tetap bersyukur kok,,, karena dari dulu saya sekolah dengan beasiswa penuh dari orang tua,, jadi apanya yang harus disesali,, kita semua,,, sudah berbeasiswa full dari Orang tua,,
